Commando Island
There used to be seven soldiers who lived here, who got stranded here during WWII, that's why they named it as 7 Commando,
whether that story is true or not, the important thing is happily spending your much deserved holiday here.
How to get there?
Most travelers arrive in El Nido on a 1.5-hour flight to Puerto Princesa Airport (PPS), followed by a 5-6 hour shuttle ride. Princesa Airport serves direct flights from Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, Clark, and Davao. If you want to skip the long land journey, fly directly to El Nido from Manila, Cebu or Boracay-Caticlan. This is the fastest but more expensive way.
Bring your cash
Do not rely on getting money from the ATMs in El Nido. It will be safer to withdraw your money in Puerto Princesa or before arriving in Palawan.
Book your hotel / hostel early
You can remedy the issue above by booking online before your trip. That way, you can bring less cash with you enjoy instant confirmation and often cheaper rates. Reserve your stay as soon as you know you are going because prices rarely go down the closer you are to your trip. Rooms also tend to get fully booked sooner, especially during holiday and peak seasons.
